Umeta Ayano (梅田綾乃?), nicknamed Umetan (うめたん?), is part of AKB48's Research Students (Team Kenkyuusei). She is one of the primary characters in AKB48 Murder Mystery series. She was based on and is portrayed by Umeta Ayano.

Chapter 1[]
All 89 members of AKB48 went to a duplex island owned by one of Akimoto Yasushi's friends for a CM Shoot. After their first day shoot was over, they went to their designated resthouse on the other island. It was assumed that she heard that Kato Rena was missing and was shocked to learn that the scream they heard was from Sashiko finding the girl's lifeless body in the dining hall.
Chapter 2[]
After they were gathered in the mansion's hallway, all the members were in a state of panic after learning what happened to Renacchi. Overhearing Shinoda and Kaoru's phone conversation, Moechan and the others tried to run out and escape, until Atsuko and Takamina arrived. Confused on what Atsuko meant by declaring that she'll take this case, she and the rest of the other members were shocked when Atsuko additionally declared that the suspect could only mean one of the AKB48 Members as the doors and windows were tightly shut, and only the members have access to enter. Comforted by Atsuko's concern for the incident, Moechan and the other members became hesitant after Atsuko miscalculated the number of suspects.
